Clay County Fair Pageant

has a long history of selecting the young lady to represent Clay County at the Indiana State Fair Pageant. Since its inception in 1958, Clay County has sent 57 queens to the state fair pageant. From 1960-1966 Clay County, like many other counties paused the annual pageant due to the political climate of the nation.
While it is an honor to represent Clay County at Indianapolis, the people of Clay County traditionally see the duties of the annual Clay County 4-H Fair to be the highlight of the Queen's reign.
Each year, one young lady is selected to be the ambassador of the Clay County 4-H Fair. She is the one who fulfills obligations during every event held during the fair. Her reign is assisted by another young lady who is crowned the Clay County Fair Princess.
Since 1987, Clay County has had a princess to assist the Queen during the busy fair week. The princess also makes appearances at a majority of fair events. She also fulfills her reign by attending events during the year outside of the fair program.
In the summer of 2022, we added a Duchess. This is for young girls in 3rd-6th grades to assist the princess as the fair schedule has continued to grow and has overlapping events.
We also added a Little Miss and Mister Contest in 2022 to select a young girl and boy to assist during the pageants with the crowning of the Queen and Princess.
These additions proved to be valuable to Clay County's pageant program.

Past Queens

In Clay County, the former queens and princesses continue to stay connected through social media. A
bi-annual reunion began in 2021 during the annual county 4-H Fair.
