Each contestant must meet the requirements set forth by the organization to have a valid entry. 

Duchess Pageant Rules and Eligibility

Each applicant is to be a resident of Clay County or neighboring township with the majority of their participation in Clay County programs. 

Each applicant is encouraged to be a member of a worthwhile positive program such as, but not limited to 4-H, Sports, Big Brother/Big Sister, Scouts, church youth groups, etc. Each applicant is encouraged to be familiar with the 4-H program as the winners serve as hostesses to the annual Clay County 4-H Fair. 

Each applicant must be in third through sixth grades (completed in 2023-2024 school year). Each applicant must be female. 

School disciplinary actions must be reported to the pageant organization for review. Should it be deemed so, revocation of the title may be required and entry application may be disqualified. 

If anytime during the pageant activities and/or reign the winner or contestant violates and/or breaks any laws such as, but not limited to; underage drinking, alcohol/drug use, etc., disciplinary action will be taken, which may include revocation of title and/or entry.
School disciplinary actions must be reported to the pageant organization for review. Should it be deemed so, revocation of the title may be required. Entry application may be disqualified. 

Attire: Dress of contestant's choice based on the following; appropriateness for the age group including but not limited to sundress, Sunday best dress, khaki pants, themed wear, etc. 

Parent(s)/Chaperone(s) are not allowed on stage during competition. Child must walk on the stage by herself. Only one adult per contestant is allowed in the backstage/staging area prior to the start of the contest. Once the contest begins, adults are to remain in the audience sitting until the conclusion of the contest. 

Previous Miss Clay County Fair Duchess title holders are ineligible. 

Each applicant must understand that the title winner and parent(s) will uphold a contract and make appearances during the county 4-H fair and similar events throughout the year which are planned in advance.  Parent(s)/Legal Guardian(s) will also have a separate contract to uphold. Each applicant must understand that court members will uphold a contract for their presence at the annual fair. 

Any contestant who has performed or competed at the professional level (for monetary gain) in anything other than amateur contests will be considered ineligible for this contest.
